Is Luggage Storage in Heraklion Safe? Here Is Exactly How It Works
What actually happens to your bags when you leave them with us in Heraklion: a staffed family-run space, handover in person, and a booking reference for every drop-off.
Handing your suitcase to someone you have never met is a strange thing to do on holiday, and it is completely fair to want to know what happens next. Here is the honest answer, with no marketing language attached.
Your bags stay with people, not in an unattended locker
We are a small family business in the centre of Heraklion, not a wall of automated lockers in a corridor. Your luggage is handed over in person to someone who works here, kept indoors on our premises, and handed back to you in person. During opening hours there is always someone on site with the bags.
Every booking gets its own reference
When you book online you receive a booking reference on the spot. That reference is tied to your name, your phone number and the exact bags you dropped off, and it is what we match against when you come back to collect. No reference and no matching details means no bags leave with anyone.
Any size, stored indoors
Backpacks, cabin bags, oversized suitcases, sports bags — they all go inside, not onto a pavement rack. You can mix sizes in a single booking, so a family arriving with two large suitcases and three backpacks is one booking and one reference, not five separate transactions.
What we suggest you keep with you
This is standard advice at any luggage storage anywhere in the world, and we would rather say it plainly than let you find out the hard way. Take these with you rather than leaving them in a stored bag:
- Your passport, ID and travel documents
- Any medication you might need during the day
- Laptops, cameras, jewellery and anything else you would not want out of your sight
- Anything genuinely fragile — we treat bags carefully, but a day in storage is not the place for something breakable
When we are open, and when to book ahead
We are open Monday to Friday 09:00–21:00, Saturday 09:00–20:00 and Sunday 10:00–20:00. Staff are on site by appointment only on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday after 15:00, and all day Sunday — during those windows, book in advance so someone is there waiting for you. Outside them, walk-ins are genuinely welcome.
