Luggage Storage Near Saint Minas Cathedral, Heraklion
Leave your bags about a minute from Saint Minas Cathedral in central Heraklion, then visit the cathedral and explore the old town without luggage.
Saint Minas Cathedral is one of the easiest landmarks to find in Heraklion — its two bell towers make it hard to miss. It also happens to be about a minute from our door, which makes it a handy reference point if you are looking for somewhere nearby to leave your luggage.
One minute from the cathedral
We are at Sfakianaki 4, a short walk from Agia Ekaterini Square, where the cathedral stands. If you can find the cathedral, you are practically at our door. From here, Lions Square is about five minutes away on foot and the airport bus station about a minute.
About Saint Minas Cathedral
The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Minas, the patron saint of Heraklion. Building began in the 1860s and was completed in 1895, and it is one of the largest churches in Greece. Beside it stands the much smaller old church of Saint Minas, and on the same square is the church of Saint Catherine, which houses a collection of Cretan religious icons, including works by Michael Damaskinos.
Heraklion celebrates Saint Minas on 11 November. Whenever you visit, dress as you would for any Orthodox church, with shoulders and knees covered.
Visiting without your bags
A church is not the place for a large suitcase, and leaving luggage outside is not an option. Drop your bags with us first, visit the cathedral and the square at your own pace, and carry on into the old town from there.
